22/11/08 Football Betting Prediction Aston Villa v Manchester United
Can Villa topple the second Premiership elite in a week?
Last weekend Aston Villa provided the match of the weekend when they beat Arsenal at the Emirates and dominated the match from start to finish. Could they improve on this and overturn Manchester United? Aston Villa are currently enjoying their best season in over 10 years and many Villa players are now being considered for international duties.
Manchester United also claimed 3 points at the weekend with a 5-0 hammering of newly promoted Stoke City. After a shaky start to the season for the Champions, Sir Alex Ferguson has steadied the ship and United now seem to be back on track. Player of last season Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have put his Real Madrid distractions behind him and is now starting to find the form that won him FIFA World Player last year.
Manchester United have always been a bit of a bogey team for Aston Villa. It has been a case of Villa score first and then suffer a 4-1 hammering by United or a close encounter to the end where the Reds steal the victory.
The majority of the internationals this week are friendlies. This will mean that international managers will want to try out new things. The likes of Ronaldo, Berbatov and Tevez etc will not feature and will most likely be sidelined where as the Villa players to be called up are new to the national team. It is expected that Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor will play a large part of Englands game against Germany.
Both sides will have more or less a full line up of players but United will have a fresher team due to Villa’s international newcomers. Villa have home advatnatge however and are more than capable of getting at least a point.
Aston Villa to get a result.
