Last weekend Stoke looked a little out of their depth in the Premier League. Bolton who realistically are not one of the top Premier League sides brushed them aside scoring 3 goals past them in the process. It is far too early to say whether or not they will succeed in this league but going on last weekends performance it is going to be tough. On Saturday 23rd August they play their first top flight game on home soil against the confident Aston Villa.
Villa are in tremendous form and are looking to improve on last years excellent record. It was thought that Villa’s opening game to Manchester City was going to be a tough one but Martin O’Neils men fired 4 past City to gain victory. Gabriel Agbonlahor always looked dagerous infront of goal and achieved this season’s first hattrick. The Gareth Barry and Liverpool situation could have upset the balance amongst the Villa squad but last weekend Barry was out to prove that he was still dedicated to his team and certainly did so.

Villa at presant are one of the top sides in the English Premier League outside of the big 4 and their youthful pace will far exceed that of the home side. Confidence can do a lot for a sides form in football and Villa have scored 4 goals in each of their last 2 games. Stoke City will be on Martin O’Neils definite win list.
