It has come round quick but the next part of the Champions League group stage is upon us. On Tuesday night Manchester United travel to Spain to face Villarreal. The first tie between these two side finished a goalless draw and was not the spectacle it was supposed to be. Both sides have work to be done in their own domestic leagues. Manchester United currently sit in 3rd position and are 8 points behind the leaders (but with a game in hand). Villarreal are looking to improve on last seasons excellent finish and sit in 2nd place, just 3 points off leaders Barcelona with Valencia, Sevilla and Real Madrid all hot on their heels.

Looking at the form Villarreal are yet to lose this season which is truly remarkable. Manchester United’s for has been good but not of the same standard as last season. They have sustained just 2 defeats this season to Liverpool and Arsenal. Sir Alex Ferguson seems to have steadied the ship and United seem to be back on track. The destroyed Stoke last weekend with a 5-0 thrashing.

If you look at the two teams on paper Manchester United look far too strong for Villarreal but the Spanish team are the hosts and are also playing some good football at the moment. Having not lost all season it will not be an easy task for Manchester United to turn them over at home especially when they could not achieve this at Old Trafford.

Secondly this game should provide goals. Both teams have more or less qualified and so will be relaxed in their style of play.
