Aston Villa had a fantastic season last year and today showed that they have every intention of beating that in 2008 / 2009.
The first half ended goalless and no-one would have expected the 6 goals that would follow in the second. John Carew scored the first on 47 minutes but the lead was short lived and Elano equalised from the penalty spot. Villa then put the game out of City’s reach when in the space of 7 minutes Gabriel Agbonlahor scored 3 goals and became the first to score a hat-trick this season. Vedran Corluka scored a conciliation goal in the 89th minute.
