This game between the two giants of Europe was destined for 0-0 when within the first 5 minutes Manchester United were awarded a penalty kick of which Christiano Ronaldo put wide. The potential FIFA world player of the year very rarely misses an opportunity like this but tonight was not to be his night. The penalty was awarded when Malito blocked a Ronaldo header with his hands in the Barcelona box.

 The home side showed the dominance tonight. Barce finished the game with 66% of the possession and United were fairly lucky to go in at half time without conceding.

The pace of the second half was dictated by United and it was clear that they were happy with the 0-0 scoreline. Lionel Messi created a lot of chances but none breaking the deadlock. Frank Rijkard made a few tactical decisions late on by replacing bringing on Henri and Bojan. Lionel Messi making it clear that he was not happy about coming off.
