Spain are Champions of Europe 2008 as they Beat Germany 1-0!!!

3 weeks in and the stage was set. 2 nations have battled their way through 5 matches and numerous stadiums to reach this stage.Neither side had claimed a recent title both having decent World Cup campaigns 2 years ago. Both sides possess massive amounts of talent and some of the best players that Europe has to offer. It would now take just 90 minutes to decide the fate of the two sides.This game will be thought of as one of the best 1-0 thrashings of all time. The match was decided by a single goal from Fernando Torres in the first half but no-one would disagree that Spain should have had 3 or 4. Germany battled hard but never really challenge the Spaniards who remained on top for the majority of the match.

This Spain’s first title in 24 years was one of the best international shows the nation has put on. Every player has played their significant part in this tournament for Spain and it was the Spanish captain and Real Madrid goal keeper Casillas who lifted the trophy.

Spain crush the Russians to book their place in the Euro 2008 final.It took Spain a while to find their feet before displaying total dominance. The first half ended goalless and it was on 49 minutes that Xavi broke the deadlock. Dani Guize followed up to score the 2nd putting the match seemingly out of reach of the Russians and it was David Silva who finished the match off with Spain’s 3rd.

The Germans score late to see off Turkey. Uğur Boral scored the first goal on 22 minutes putting Turkey in front. The lead was short-lived however when Bastian Schweinsteiger fired home the equaliser just 4 minutes later. The game remained tight for the next half hour but Miroslav Klose found the net on 79 minutes to score what was thought to be the match winner. With 4 minutes of normal time to go Semih Şentürk leveled the score again and extra time looked imminent. The Germans wanted the job done and in the final minute Philipp Lahm scored the final goal of the match giving victory to his side.

Shock result as the Russians kill off the group of death victors.

Pavlyuchenko put the Russians in front on 56 minutes and the Dutch battled hard to equalise. Van Nistelrooy leveled up on 86 minutes. The Russians dominated the extra time period. Torbinski put them in front on 22 mins et and Arshavin killed the game of on 26.

Croatia 1 Turkey 1

Croatia just minutes away from qualification hand the place in the semi final to Turkey.A 0-0 FT draw sees the game move into extra time. Klasnić scored the first goal in the 29th minute of extra time and only minutes later Semih Şentürk equalised to force penalties. Turkey won the match 3-1 on penalties.

Portugal 2 Germany 3

The favourites fight off a late attack from Portugal to book their place in the semi final.Germany were 2-0 up in 25 minutes with goals from Bastian Schweinsteiger and Miroslav Klose and entered the break 2-1 lead after Nuno Gomes reduced the deficit to 1. Midway through the second Michael Ballack put the game out of the oppositions reach with his second goal of the tournament. In the closing minutes Hélder Postiga scored a consolation goal as Portugal bow out.

Turkey 3 Czech Republic 2

Turkey come from a 2-0 deficit to book their place in the knock out stages.

Without a shadow of a doubt this was the best game of the tournament so far. Turkey seemed down and out as the fell 2 behind with goals from Jan Koller and Jaroslav Plasil. With 15 minutes to go and a fumble by Petr Cech Turkey fired home 3 to win the match and steal qualification from the Czech Republic. The goals were score by Arda Turan and Nihat Kahveci.

Switzerland 2 Portugal 0

The hosts bow out with their heads held high with a 2-0 win over Portugal.It is true that the Portugal side was not at full strength and already sure of qualification you may have expected an under par performance. But take nothing away from Switzerland as they fully deserved the win. Hakan Yakin scored both the goals late on in the second half. The second goal being scored from the penalty spot.

Russia sneak a much needed win with a single goal from Konstantin Zyrianov on the end of a Diniyar Bilyaletdinov cross.
