Chelsea looked excellent today in their opening match. Both Bosingwa and Deco made their Premiership debuts and both played a big part in today’s victory. Joe Cole score the first goal. He found himself in a wide position one on one with Portsmouth keeper David James and put his team in-front. In the 26th minute Nicolas Anelka made it 2-0 when he headed in a cross from Deco at close range. Just before the break Frank Lampard made it 3-0 from the penalty spot when Sylvain Distin handled the ball in his area.
Chelsea never really gave Portsmouth the chance to play smothering them throughout the match. The goal of the match was scored by Deco in the final minute of the game. It was a 25 yard strike that swerved into the back of the net completing his perfect debut game. Chelsea firmly stamp their position at the top of the table.
