England 5 Kazakhstan 1 Highlights & Goal Videos

England destroy Kazakhstan in a games of two halves. It was difficult to know what to expect with this game. With England already having 6 points out of 6 in this competition it was a chance for Fabio Capello to try out some new ideas. England started the game with an attacking lineup. Wayne Rooney, Theo Wallcott and Emile Heskey started the front line whilst Jermaine Defoe and Peter Crouch were rested. In the midfield Capello did opt to play both Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard and they were joined by Aston Villa man Gareth Barry. Matthew Upson replaced the injured John Terry.

The first half was a tight affair and as usual England showed their nerves. England looked the stronger of the two sides but so many players were making mistakes. Steven Gerrard was continually miss timing passes, Wayne Rooney could not place a good through ball and Frank Lampard’s crosses looked none league. At half time the England fans booed their team which is surprising considering they have so far won 6 points out of 6.

In the second half England got the goal early on. Frank Lampard put in the perfect corner which found the head of unmarked Rio Ferdinand. The second goal was an own goal. Another set piece which went in off the head of Kazakhstan player Aleksandr Kuchma.

Kazakhstan quickly cam back. A mistake from Ashley Cole put the ball in the path of Kazakhstan forward Zhambyl Kukeev in a one on one position with England goal keeper David James and he had no trouble finding the back of the net.

Wayne Rooney made it 3-1 with a close range header and then score his second and Englands 4th on 86 minutes. Rooney was then replaced with substitute Jermaine Defoe who took just 2 minutes of football to find the back of the net. Emile Heskey had a great game and in the dying minutes came close on a number of occasions. He did everything but score.

Wayne Rooney was given man of the match and England claim 9 points out of 9. Has England manager Fabio Capello completed the mission? Either way England finish the weekend in the perfect position.

Next stop for England is Belarus on this Wednesday.
