This news has upset the majority of City fans and could have unsettled the side for their visit to Anfield. Liverpool started the game with numerous rotations of which Rapha Benitez continued to do throughout the game.
During the first half it was clear that the loss of their manager had not strayed the City sides minds from the task they had to do in Liverpool. Both sides had opportunities but Liverpool could not find the final touch and Jose Reina played well to keep out City.

Mid way through the second this season’s wonder kid put the home side in front with one of his trademark goals. He broke free from the defence and cut the ball across the City goal into the far side bottom corner.
