The biggest game of the competition so far sees the reigning World Cup champions smashed.

Netherlands got their campaign off to a flying start with a 3-0 battering of Italy. The game was expected to be close but nobody would have predicted that scoreline. Ruud van Nistelrooy opened the scoring with a controversial goal. He was deemed offside but Italy had one player who was behind their goal and the goal was given.

Wesley Sneijder made it 2 late on in the first half and Giovanni van Bronckhorst completed the mission on 79 minutes.
