A tight affair at the bottom end of the table with both teams aiming to avoid defeat.With both sides at the bottom end of the table and neither safe from relegation this was always going to be tight. Both teams displaying little quality and no end result.
The first half saw few chances. Both teams playing some scrappy football. Marcus Bent came close with a header that hit the post but both teams lacked any real threat in front of goal.
The second half was much of the same and as it progressed it was clear that both sides were settling for the draw.
Reading sit just 1 point off the drop zone with just two matches to play whilst Wigan are just a point from safety. Steve Coppell’s side know they have a job on their hands if they are to stay in the Premiership.
